Money Transfer to Man in Danger?

So I've been fortunate enough to receive a proposition from an agent of the federal government currently trapped in Nigeria, he simply needs my bank number and credit card number and such financial things. I have no question as to his validity, for he works for the government, so he has to be on the level or face some serious consequences, but I don't feel safe sending these numbers via email, for some could find it. If I set up a new email account to send this man my information, will they be able to find it?
