Question for U.S citizens?

I am not from nor have I ever been to the U.S. but during studying your revolution period, specifically in the late 1700's, the cause of the revolution was the "taxation without representation". According to what I understand Americans at the time did not want to be taxed by the parliament of the Brit's. With the new taxes and crazy spending your government is encountering, do you believe your founding fathers would have been concerned about this, to the point where this would bother them more than the "taxation without representation"?
