How to knit a kufi hat?

my mothers friend wants me to make a kufi hat. i know how to crochet and knit but in knittting a know most of the stitches( stockenette, rib, garter,) more... and in crochet i only know one stitch ( single crochet) i want to know how to knit a kufi hat or how to crochet one only using the single stitch
